He was a gladiator competing at the Corrida Colosseum for the Mera Mera no Mi. After the final battle against Donquixote Doflamingo, Bartolomeo pledged his loyalty to Monkey D. Luffy and became the 2nd division commander of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. He has immense respect for the Straw Hat Pirates, especially for Luffy to the point of worshipping him, after witnessing his miraculous survival on the execution stand in Loguetown two years ago.
