GUMI is an official mascot character of Megpoid, which is a singing synthesizer application software powered by Yamaha's Vocaloid2 and was published by INTERNET Co.,Ltd. Her voice is provided by Filipino-Japanese singer and voice actress Megumi Nakajima. The avatar character was drawn by the mangaka and illustrator Masami Yuuki. The name GUMI is from Megumi Nakajima's nickname in her childhood. The software name of "Megpoid" is taken from the provider's name "Megumi". The name of "poid" on the end of the name is short for "like Vocaloid", the full implied name of this product is "Megumi-like Vocaloid".
