Daijin

A mysterious white cat that speaks human language who suddenly appears in front of Suzume. It appears at places where doors open and plays tricks on Suzume and her friends. In the form of a cat statue, it was the western gatestone responsible for holding back the worms from escaping open doors in abandoned places before it was unknowingly released by Suzume. Daijin transforms Souta into a chair and designates him as its replacement as the western gatestone. Daijin becomes thinner and more ragged in body structure when rejected by Suzume and gains its normal appearance back when treated with kindness.
