Shizu

Shizu is a young man with a great talent for swordsmanship, weilding a katana. He travels in a buggy alongside his vassal and pet Samoyed, Riku, and eventually Ti, a girl whom Riku and Shizu eventually take in. Kino's first impression of Shizu is of a peaceful martyr, despite participating in a tournament of death. Despite escaping the Land of the Coliseum as a child, he returns seven years later to participate in the tournament as a means to assassinate his father and end the tyranny. Kino and Hermes occasionally meet up with Shizu and Riku during their travels, but Kino seems to only remember Riku's name. (Source: Kino's Journey Wiki, edited)
